Homeworlds is out

Star Wars: Unlimited's ninth main set, Homeworlds, released on Friday, October 9 in most regions after prereleases on October 2. It is the biggest set so far, with more than 260 cards built around the planets of the galaxy, their creatures and the armies that invade them.

The main mechanics that you'll find in the set are:

  • Fortify, a new keyword that lets you attach upgrades to your base.

  • Beast tokens, 3/3 ground units.

  • Weakness tokens, the exact opposite of Experience: -1/-1 instead of +1/+1.

  • Two Spotlight Decks, led by Chewbacca and Grand Moff Tarkin. Tarkin's leader can flip into a playable Death Star in the late game.

Something you might have missed due to the hype of Homeworlds, is that both War Juggernaut and IG-2000 are legal again in the Eternal format. Back in April, Fantasy Flight Games suspended War Juggernaut (Jump to Lightspeed, 170) and IG-2000 (Jump to Lightspeed, 140) in Eternal, effective April 24, 2026.

Both cards were the engine behind Jango Fett's explosive deploy turn, exhausting most or all of the opponent's units at once. At the time, FFG reported that Jango was being played by almost a quarter of the field, reached Top 8 at a 37% rate, and had won five of the first nine Eternal Planetary Qualifiers. Rather than suspend Jango himself, the team thought it might be better to instead remove some valuable cards surrounding the hero.

Those suspensions were never meant to be permanent. FFG's Eternal policy says a card's first suspension ends automatically with the release of the second set after it. For anything suspended during the A Lawless Time season, that set is Homeworlds. As of this weekend, both War Juggernaut and IG-2000 can go back into your Eternal decks.

What to watch: FFG said in April that if Jango returns to his old dominance, it is prepared to step in with a heavier hand. FFG has also not yet decided how long a second suspension would last. Options it floated range from longer time limits to an indefinite suspension, as in Premier. Expect Jango Fett to be the deck to beat in the first Eternal events of the Homeworlds season.

Premier: Cad Bane is still out

Nothing changes in Premier. Cad Bane, Still Faster Than You (Ashes of the Empire, 11) remains suspended. FFG pulled him on August 24 after he grew to more than 20% of the metagame while still converting to Top Cut at an outsized rate. The design team openly called the card a development mistake.

Stock: check with your store, especially for Carbonite

This launch has been rougher than usual. In a September 25 update, FFG confirmed that problems at its manufacturing partner delayed several Homeworlds products. It called this the first time it has missed a release date for a mainline product.

  • Carbonite boosters are delayed worldwide. Most retailers were expected to have little or no Carbonite stock at prerelease and launch. The Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Nordics, Romania and Taiwan were among the countries where only Carbonite was listed as delayed.

  • In several countries, including Mexico, South Africa, Korea and much of Southeast Asia, standard boosters, prerelease boxes and Spotlight Decks were affected as well.

  • Australia and New Zealand moved the whole set: prerelease on October 15, release on October 16.

  • First shipments are limited, and stores are being restocked after release.

What's next

The next release is Icons 2027 Edition, a 194-card mini-set aimed at new and returning players, due in November. Further ahead, Legacy of Skywalker headlines the 2027 schedule.
